Free Spirit Tours has been operating since 1998. We are proud to provide a true outdoors experience in one of Ontario's most beautiful areas, Southern Georgian Bay.

Our expert guides outfit you and teach you the skills you need to take on any of our activities with confidence. Whether your interest be on the water or on land we have something for you.

All our programs take place in the picturesque Georgian Bay area surrounding Collingwood, Ontario.

We offer hiking, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, caving and sea kayaking tours to all age groups. We also offer team building programs for corporate groups and clubs.


SAMANTHA ALLEN

Where are you from originally? North York, ON. What activities do you guide? Trailblazers. Most memorable outdoor adventure? My most memorable outdoor adventure was caving in New Zealand. There is a place called Waitomo Caves. It was here when my passion for caving began. What kind of vehicle do you drive?  Bicycle, but saving up for an eBike. Favourite food?  Steak with potatoes and vegetables, followed by a chocolate fudge brownie sundae with whipped cream and a cherry on top. 

DENISE BARANSKI

Where are you from originally? Wasaga Beach, ON, but I live in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. What activities do you guide? Kid's Camp Most memorable outdoor adventure? Surfing the Atlantic Ocean in Essaouira, Morocco. Favourite animal? Pugs. What kind of vehicle do you drive? A Jeep in Canada, in Saudi Arabia, women don't drive. Favourite food? BBQ and Ontario corn.

SAM FEATHERSTONE

Where are you from originally? I was born in Milton and I moved to Collingwood when I was six. What activities do you guide? Paddling at Beaver River. Most memorable outdoor adventure? 10 day back-country camping trip along the French River. Favourite animal? Cats. And birds. Any birds. What kind of vehicle do you drive? My bicycle. Favourite food? Spanakopita, croissants, and mangos :)

 

TOM FITZPATRICK

Where are you from originally? Tillsonburg, ON What activities do you guide? Paddling in Wasaga Most memorable outdoor adventure? Doing a via ferrata in Southern France.  Breath taking views and super fun. Favourite animal? Whales. Favourite food? Lasagna

 

DAVE FLEISHER

Where are you from originally? Thornhill, ON What activities do you guide? Paddling, Brewery Tours Most memorable outdoor adventure? A month long solo trip I did around Eastern Canada in August 2015. Me, my dog, my canoe, and my car. I visited a lot of provincial and national parks for the first time and did a mix of hiking, paddling, portaging, and camping in both front and backcountry. Who needs a hotel when you’ve got a tent? Favourite animal?   German Shepherd and other similar dogs. I also love listening to loon calls at night on a lake. Favourite food? A cheeseburger with fries

TAMARA FOURNIER

Where are you from originally? Québec, but also Germany. Now I call Collingwood my home. What activities do you guide? Kid's Camp, Paddling, Caving Most memorable outdoor adventure? Oh so many, but the one adventure that gave me tears of joy was whale watching in Victoria. A friendly humpback whale spent over 15 min right in front of me, popping its head up and down, literally checking me out and spinning around, seemingly enjoying itself. Favourite animal? Snake Favourite food? Vegetables, seafood and don't forget chocolate! (but not all at once) If you could go anywhere in the world where would that be? Antarctica

Where are you from originally? Prince Edward Island What activities do you guide? Kid's Camp, Paddling, Caving and winter activities Most memorable outdoor adventure?Winter camping in Thunder Bay.  Sleeping in a quinzee for 3 nights in -28C Favourite animal? Hawk Favourite food? Pizza

Where are you from originally? Collingwood, ON What activities do you guide? Kids Camp Most memorable outdoor adventure? 11 day sea kayaking trip around Gabriola Island and Dionisio Point, BC Favourite animal?  Sloth Favourite food? Apple Crumble

 

JONATHAN NUNES

Where are you from originally? Vaughan, Ontario What activities do you guide? Rock climbing Most memorable outdoor adventure? Climbing a first ascent on the Earth’s mantle in Gros Morne National Park and rappelling through a storm in complete darkness. Favourite animal? Snow leopard Favourite food? Pizza!

CARLY O'NEILL

Where are you from originally? Born in Oakville, moved to Collingwood when I was eight.  What activities do you guide? Kids Camp Ages 5-6. Most memorable outdoor adventure? 10 day family camping trip through the Maritimes. Favourite animal?  Dogs and my spirit animal are Deer :) Favourite food? Fish tacos and guacamole.

Where are you from originally? Toronto, moved in early teens What activities do you guide? Sea kayaking, both rivers, caving, snowshoeing Your most memorable outdoor adventure? Beaver river rat races Favourite animal? Birds, any birds Favourite food? Chicken

Where are you from originally?  I was born and raised in Collingwood.  What activities do you guide? Forest School Your most memorable outdoor adventure?  Definitely completing the Annapurna Circuit and Sanctuary Trek in Nepal.  Favourite animal?  Probably a dog, especially a puppy. Favourite food? Anything from my garden.
 

MATT SIMPSON

Where are you from originally? Hamilton, ON What activities do you guide? Forest School Most memorable outdoor adventure? Getting engaged in the Himalayas of Nepal. Thankfully she said yes or it would have been a long 2 week hike out. Favourite animal? Tough call, but I love monkeys Favourite food? Vegetarian pizza with lots of cheese

 

MAGGIE SMYTH

Where are you from originally? Born and raised in Aurora, Ontario (moved here in 2012) What activities do you guide? Guide Rock Climbing mostly (back up caving, Snow shoeing) Your most memorable adventure? Hiking in the Grand Canyon Favourite animal? My favourite animal is the Moose (I don't know why) Favourite food? Quinoa salad or NACHOS!!!

TIM SPROLL

Where are you from originally? Pietermaritzburg, South Africa What activities do you guide? Snowshoeing, caving, SUP boarding and anything else that's thrown my way Your most memorable outdoor adventure? Hiking the Tsitsikamma and Otter trails back to back, which meant ten days in the South African wilderness Your  favourite animal? I'd have to say the dolphin is my favourite animal, they are intelligent, friendly and catch waves ;) Favourite food? Consciously raised, organic and locally sourced.

What do you guide? Summer camp! And I help out with other stuff if needed. What is your most memorable outdoor adventure? Choosing my most memorable outdoor adventure is a tough one. Probably being 60 km into a backpacking research expedition for Parks Canada in Pukaskwa and then seeing three lynx, hearing there calls throughout the night was wild. Your favourite animal? My favourite animal has got to be a mountain goat! They’re pretty great climbers! And if you could go anywhere in the world where would that be? If I could go anywhere in the world, I would go treking and climbing in Patagonia.

What do you guide? Kids camp What is your most memorable outdoor adventure? My most memorable outdoor adventure would have to be climbing the Lion’s Head bluffs as the sun set over the bay last summer. Your favourite animal? My favourite animal is the beaver And if you could go anywhere in the world where would that be?  If I could go anywhere in the world it would be Gilman st. 1992 to see Green Day when they were my age.

What do you guide? I guide rock climbing and caving What is your most memorable outdoor adventure? My most memorable outdoor adventure was actually very recently, I went on a rock climbing trip to Colorado which was incredible! Your favourite animal? Favourite animal would have to be dogs, the species doesn't matter they're all amazing! And if you could anywhere in the world where would that be? If I could be anywhere in the world it would be a 3 way tie between BC, somewhere in Europe (somewhere with mountains) or right here because we're lucky to live in a very nice place.

Where are you from originally? Mississauga, ON What is your most memorable outdoor adventure? A week of climbing in Squamish, BC in 2016. Being in nature is typically when I feel at my best, and I’ve always found the climbing community welcoming. What’s your favourite food? BBQ – something that reminds me warm summer nights while spending time with family and friends. Your favourite animal? Wolves.

What is your most memorable outdoor adventure? It was mid July and I was hiking to the summit of Mt Lassen in California with my Uncle and cousin. We were about halfway to the top when we turned a corner and saw hundreds of California Tortoiseshell butterflies. The butterflies mixed with the beauty of the landscape made for an awesome sight. What’s your favourite food? Enchiladas Your favourite animal? Grizzly bears. Did you know their bite is strong enough to crush a bowling ball? That's pretty neat. If you could go anywhere in the world where would that be? Australia. Beautiful sights and amazing climbing. What more could you ask for?

What is your most memorable outdoor adventure? Scuba diving in Vietnam. What’s your favourite food? Pho. Your favourite animal? Sea turtles! If you could go anywhere in the world where would that be? Western Canada.

What is your most memorable outdoor adventure? My most memorable outdoor adventure was swimming in the beautiful natural tiered pools of Semuc Champey in Guatemala, surrounded by dense rain forest and diverse wildlife! What’s your favourite food? My all time favourite food is probably burritos. Your favourite animal? If I had to pick a favourite animal, it would be the Bengal Tiger; they're the perfect combination of both ferocity and finesse. If you could go anywhere in the world where would that be? I think I would choose Japan for its unique culture and traditions.
